Mechanical Engineer

MWES, located in Waukesha, Wisconsin, is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer. This is a full time, direct hire position. MWES offers competitive wages and a complete benefit package.

 

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical design and proficient using Solidworks and EPDM software. Experience with industrial automation/systems integration preferred.

 

Summary
 

Under supervision of the Engineering Manager – Mechanical, the Mechanical Engineer assists with the designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Demonstrate creativity and ingenuity when applying engineering principals to design custom machining project involving automation principals. The ME works as a member of a project team and coordinates work with others, while achieving and on-time completion of the project within budgetary constraints.
 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop the structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software.

  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.

  • Collaborate with project team, peers and management to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information. Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or systems malfunctions.

  • Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating conditions effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.

  • Develop, coordinate, or monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, or operation of product designs.

  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.

  • Provide Project Manager (PM) with timely status reports of assignments.

  • Complete all necessary Project Development paperwork and produce meaningful project control documentation.

  • Travels as required to complete project tasks.

  • Maintains a strong company presence and positive working relationship with customers, subcontractors, vendors and co-workers to accomplish smooth system start-ups.

  • Stay current in new developments in the industry.

  • Comply with all quality and safety regulations. 

  • Carry out other tasks and assignments as requested by the Engineering Manager - Mechanical or Project Manager.

Education/Experience

 

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree (AA) or four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
     

Language Skills​

​

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondences, and instruction/procedure manuals. Ability to write correspondences and routine reports.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information one on one and in group situations to customers, clients, vendors and other employees within the organization.
     

Mathematical Skills​
 

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry.

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations and proportions to practical situations.
     

Reasoning Skills​
 

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, professionally to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Efficiently interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
     

Technology Skills​
 

  • Requires the ability to operate a wide variety of standard office equipment, such as a computer and keyboard, a calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, etc.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook

  • Exposure to a variety of engineering software, including Solidworks and AutoCAD
